Lipsticks are not the only thing for your lips; many lip balms come in color or transparent. One design of lipstick and lip balms is formulated to give your lips the hydration it needs; this keeps your lips looking healthy. These forms of lipsticks and lip balms are genially found in a tubular container that is around 10mm in diameter and 50mm in length.

The history of your leftover lipstick.

Lipstick dates back 5,000 years ago to the Ancient Sumerians, and Indus Valley men and women were the first to invent and wear lipstick. Cleopatra crushed bugs (carmine) to create a color of red on their lips. The Egyptians wore lipstick to show social status rather than gender. They would extract the red dye from Fucus-algin, 0.01% iodine, and some bromine mannite, but this dye is made for people with serious illnesses. Shimmering lipsticks were initially made by using a pearlescent substance found in fish scales.

The Chinese made their lipstick by using beeswax as a source or 1,000 years ago. They created beeswax lipstick to protect their lips. We just wanted to give you a little history as to where the lipstick trend began.

What ingredients are in my leftover lipstick?

The ingredients found in today’s Lipsticks contain wax. Lipsticks may be made from several waxes such as beeswax, ozokerite, and candelilla wax. The reason for using the waxes is because they have a high melting point. Carnauba wax is a key ingredient in terms of strengthening lipstick. The wax helps give the form of a solid lipstick. Oils, antioxidants, and emollients. Various oils and fats are used in lipsticks, such as olive oil, mineral oil, cocoa butter, lanolin, and petrolatum. Lipsticks also will use a variety of pigments and lake dyes, depending on the lipstick color.

Other ingredients in your leftover lipstick

Matte lipsticks contain more filling agents like silica but do not contain many emollients. Crème lipsticks contain more waxes than oils. Sheer and Long-Lasting Lipsticks contain more oil, while long-lasting lipsticks also contain silicone oil, designed to seal in colors. Glossy lipstick contains more oil to give a shiny finish to the lips.

Frost and Shimmery lipstick may contain mica, silica, and synthetic pearl particles, ingredients Bismuth Oxychloride, to give the lipstick a shimmering glittery shine. These ingredients are heated, and waxes are added to the mixture for texture. Lanolin and oils are added specific formula requirements. Once the liquid is hot, it is poured into a metal mold. The mixture is then chilled. Once the lipstick is hardened, they are heated in a flame for half a second to give a shiny finish.

Lead and other trace metals may be found in many lipsticks. This happens accidentally because of the natural ingredients during production. The contaminants are not added to the listed ingredients.
